Abstract

Janice K. Ledford, COMT, has created a long overdue examination review manual for those preparing to take the Certified Ophthalmic Assistant test. She has drawn on her extensive background as an ophthalmic assistant, ophthalmic technician, and ophthalmic medical technologist and from all her experiences gained in becoming certified by the Joint Commission on Allied Health Personnel in Ophthalmology at each of these levels. Many ophthalmic assistants will benefit from this book, as will their physicians and patients whom they deal with in their health care provider roles. The introductory chapter covers studying and test-taking strategies. It is as valuable as any of the other chapters. The author provides many suggestions on how to approach studying, and tips are given for reading techniques, creating the right environment for studying, organizing a study schedule (including an example of a specific technique for learning new material), and managing pretest stress.
