Clinical effect of Xiaozheng pills combined with mifepristone in treatment of dysmenorrhea of endometriosis and its effect on serum levels of ICAM-1, MMP-9, and LXA4

Abstract

Objective To observe the clinical effect of Xiaozheng pills combined with mifepristone for dysmenorrhea of endometriosis, and to explore its effect on the serum levels of intercellular adhesion (ICAM-1), Matrix metalloproteinase-9 (MMP-9), and Lipid oxygen element A4 (LXA4). Methods A total of 96 patients with intrauterine dysmenorrhea treated at our hospital from June, 2017 to February, 2018 were selected as study objects, and were randomly divided into an observation group (n=48 cases) and a control group (n=48 cases). The control group orally took mifepristone, while the observation group took mifepristone and Xiaozheng pills, for 6 months. The clinical efficacies of the two groups were compared. The uterine volume was checked before and after treatment. The degree of pelvic pain was evaluated by reference to visual analoguescale (VAS). The serum levels of ICAM-1,MMP-9, andLXA4 were monitored. The safeties of the medication were compared. Results The effective rate was 91.67% in the observation group, and 75.00% in the control group (P<0.05). After the treatment, the uterine volume decreased, pelvic pain was obviously alleviate, the scores of menstrual period abdominal pain, dysmenorrhea, dyspareunia, defecation pain as well as the serum levels of ICAM-1and MMP-9 significantly decreased, sand the LXA4 level increased in both groups (all P<0.05); and the above indicators were better in the the observation group than in the control group (all P<0.05). The incidence of adverse reactions was significantly lower in the observation group than in the control group (6.25% vs. 25.00%, P<0.05). Conclusion The synergistic effect of Xiaozheng pills combined with mifepristone for dysmenorrhea of endometriosis is satisfactory; it is conducive to promoting the patients’ uterine recovery and pelvic pain alleviation. The mechanism may be that the inflammatory response can be reduced adjusting the serum levels of ICAM-1, MMP-9, and LXA4 to play analgesic effect. It is worth for clinical promotion.
