Abstract

Objective To investigate the level of serum lipid, fasting and two hour' s post-prandial blood sugar and cerebral blood flow in panic disorder patients. Methods 60 panic disorder(PD) patients of emergency department divided into two groups according to the suicide idea, and compared with 30 controls. Results The study found that the panic disorder with suicide idea had significant lower level of total cholesterol (TCh),(P < 0.05).low-density lipoprotein compared with no suicide idea and control,(P < 0.05)2 hBS higher in panic disorder with suicide idea(P <0.05).The mean cerebral blood peak flow velocity in the left and right middle cerebral artery and left anterior cerebral artery were lower than those of with patients without suicide idea and controls (P < 0.05).Correlation factors were analyzed by regression in PD group. The patients with suicide idea were significant lower in low-density lipoprotein, left and right middle cerebral artery than those of without suicide idea, while the concentrations of TC,2Hbs and left anterior cerebral had no significant difference between them. Conclusion The change of LDL and cerebral blood flow may be the neurobiology indicators. Key words: Panic disorder; Serum lipid; Fasting and two hour post-prandial blood sugar; Cerebral blood flow; Emergency department
