Abstract

SrGa 2S 4:Ce films for blue-emitting thin-film EL devices have been prepared by multi-source deposition. It is found that when Ga 2S 3 evaporates from the source, it decomposes into GaS and S 2. Therefore, reactions between Sr, GaS and S 2 should be considered in the deposition process. It was found that the formation of SrGa 2S 4, SrS or GaS depends strongly on the substrate temperature and Ga 2S 3 Sr . The SrGa 2S 4:Ce film showing blue luminescence was deposited at a substrate temperature of 450 °C and the flux ratio > 40.
