Abstract

The following study examines the personality differences in children (101 undergraduates) from divorced as compared to intact homes. The Multidimensional Personality Questionnaire (MPQ) was used to ascertain these differences. Though no overall differences were found, parental relationship, as described by the participant, was found to effect reserved and positive behavior. Significant results were ob tained for gender differences as well. The results contained in this paper lend support to other studies that suggest that the negative effects of divorce are not necessarily related to the divorce itself, but to other factors related to the child's socio emotional development.
