AbstractThe N‐(3‐ethoxycarbonylethyl) α‐azo β‐keto amides (I), (III), and (VII) are denitrogenated in the presence of rhodium catalysts to undergo cyclization, producing the β‐lactams (II), (IV), or (VIII), the pyrrolidinones (V) or (IX), and the oxazepinones (VI) or (X).
