Abstract

A new ligand, formylferrocene m-nitrobenzoylhydrazone (HL) and its chelating complexes, LnL 3· nH 2O (where Ln = lanthanide and Y, n = 1–5) have been prepared by the reaction of HL with the relative metal(III) chloride in acetonitrile. The ligand coordinates to central ions in the enolic form with a molar ratio of 3:1. We discuss the IR, UV, molar conductance and thermogravimetry of the complexes and propose a structure.
