Abstract

In this study, a fresh boron-doped B/BiOCl was produced utilizing BPO4 as the boron origin. When exposed to visible light, B/BiOCl demonstrated effective degradation of organic dyes like Rhodamine B (RhB), methyl blue (MB), and basic fuchsin (BF). Their degradation rates surpassed those of BiOCl by 1.7 times for RhB, 3.6 times for MB, and 8.35 times for BF, respectively. Furthermore, the introduction of boron into B/BiOCl notably enhanced its photocatalytic reduction capability towards carbon dioxide, leading to a 3.21-fold increase in CH4 production compared to BiOCl. Analysis results revealed a homogeneous distribution of boron within BiOCl, thereby improving its efficiency in charge-hole separation and adsorption. Consequently, the photocatalytic performance of B/BiOCl was significantly augmented.
