Abstract

π + electroproduction from 12C, 16O, 9Be, 7Li and 6Li leading to the low-lying states of corresponding daughter nuclei are analyzed in the distorted wave impulse approximation. We compare the experimental data with results found using various nuclear wave functions, and study qualitative features of the renormalization of the pion-production vertices in nuclei. The angular distribution of pions produced from 9Be shows an enhancement of longitudinal spin-isospin modes, which could have the same origin as the renormalization of the induced pseudoscalar axial current vertex of nuclei.
