Abstract

The rapid growth of different renewable energy sources has resulted in the need for efficient energy storage systems that can accommodate such an increase in the renewable energy supply. Among the different renewable energy storage systems, electrochemical storage systems such as batteries and supercapacitors have high efficiency and are considered good candidates for storing renewable energy. Developing effective electrochemical energy storage systems requires developing outstanding electrode materials. Efficient devices require useful tools for determining their physical/chemical/electrochemical characteristics. This work summarizes the different tools used for such characteristics with an insightful discussion of the importance of each method.
