Abstract
This paper reports the characteristics of a spherical slot array antenna radiating a circularly polarized conical beam. The structure of the antenna is simple and suitable for mass production. This antenna is proposed for application to a land mobile subscriber unit located far from the equator and wireless LAN system. The system of integral equations is solved by the method of moments with the aid of the dyadic Green's function. The impedance characteristics revealing the matching conditions are illustrated. The radiation characteristics such as radiation pattern and directivity are found to be conical beam radiation. The polarization characteristics giving rise to the circularly polarized radiation are investigated. The experimental results verified the theoretical ones.
