Abstract
Adducts of some unsaturated fatty acids with maleic anhydride were prepared by thermal reaction. Corrosion and lubrication tests for these products as water-based cutting fluid additives were carried out. It was found that triethanol amine salts of the adducts from linoleic acid, ricinoleic acid and oleic acid with maleic anhydride showed effective rust-inhibiting and anti-wear properties for water-based cutting fluids.
