Abstract

Metals have been widely used in various industries due to their stable performance and abundant reserves. However, they are easily corroded by aggressive media in service environments, which caused economic losses, safety accidents, and environmental pollution. It is very important to remove the corrosion products on the metal surface by pickling. Traditional pickling solutions include hydrochloric acid and sulfuric acid, but they can also corrode metal substrate when used. Therefore, corrosion inhibitors used in acidic environments have been developed. Acidizing corrosion inhibitors are widely used to inhibit metal corrosion in the pickling process, such as copper, carbon steel, and mild steel. With the unremitting efforts of researchers, the types of acidizing corrosion inhibitors are gradually increasing. Common acidizing corrosion inhibitors are mainly organics containing N, O, S, P heteroatoms, polar functional groups, and π bonds. However, with the improvement of human environmental protection awareness, acidizing corrosion inhibitors are also becoming environmentally friendly. Therefore, drug, amino acid, plant extract, and ionic liquid acidizing corrosion inhibitors have also been developed. In this chapter, the type, anti-corrosion mechanism of acidizing corrosion inhibitor will be introduced in detail.
