Abstract

This chapter provides an overview on dimension and metrization. It discusses a problem to characterize the dimension of a metric space by the property of its metric function. There are theorems in dimension theory that correspond to Alexandroff–Urysohn's metrization theorem. One can prove a sharper theorem in this connection. The chapter also discusses the relations between dimensions and metric functions of metric spaces.
