Abstract

This chapter discusses the time period between 1888 and 1894. The chapter focuses on obituaries, anniversaries, and discussion of ten years' work at Eastville. A great sorrow has saddened not one family only but has also thrown its deep shadow over the entire parish. One who was in no slender degree the coming strength and the present joy of a large household has fallen suddenly in the flower of his youth, and the joy is blighted. In 1884, a guild of children was formed in Stoke Bishop and called the Guild of Samuel, the object of which was to unite its members in prayer and in good works. It is pleasant and interesting to remember the results of this little society and its meetings. It is believed that the former members of this little band, now no longer numbered among the children, will not lose but rather deepen the interest they once felt in home and foreign missionary work.
