Abstract

The rapid growth of gas-fired power plants (GPPs) and emerging power-to-gas (P2G) conversion technologies have increased the interdependence of electricity and gas networks (EGNs). Therefore, security, economy, and environmental issues in one system can directly and significantly influence another system. With these developments and new trends, the combined optimization of these two energy networks has received more attention in recent years, which is believed to achieve more efficient results than the separate optimization of these networks. This chapter focuses on gas network modeling, its similarities and differences with the electricity network coupled components, and highly efficient strategies for optimizing these networks.
