Abstract
High-efficiency coatings are tested to establish that they are really efficient in protecting the substrate from corrosion. The properties that make these coatings efficient are identified and tested using internationally established processes and values. The quality control of coating material manufacturing, surface preparation, and application methods contributes to the coatings’ higher levels of performance in challenging environments. The coating materials are tested to determine their properties in various conditions. Different types of tests are applied to different coating materials, and high-efficiency coatings must exhibit higher performance values for gel time, UV thermal aging, glass transition temperatures, and volatile material contents. The production tests are primarily intended to ensure successful application, but they also verify that a coating material displays its desired properties.
