Abstract

This chapter presents a study on AM metal material fatigue via an experimental and numerical combined approach. The fatigue life of 15-5 PH stainless steel is tested in the experiment. The number of cycles to failure as well as fracture surface microstructure are analyzed. And then, a FE numerical model is developed and the predicted fatigue life is compared with the testing result and literature data. The extension of the prediction curve matches well with the previously measured experimental results, following the Coffin-Manson-Basquin Law.
