Chapter Four - Duration of Firewater Supplies

Abstract

An examination of the provision of firewater mains and duration of firewater supply requirements is undertaken. Specifically, how public firewater mains can be considered an unlimited source of water supply based on certain performance factors is detailed. Where the need for onsite water supply storage is necessary the provision of primary and backup water supplies and how their capacities should be determined is explained. A survey of fire codes and insurance recommendations for rates, durations and storage amounts of firewater is provided.
