Abstract
This chapter deals with the properties of bamboo fibres. Various physical, mechanical, and thermal properties have been discussed in detail. General physical properties such as length, linear density, moisture absorption, and density of various types of bamboo fibres are presented. A detailed discussion on the tensile properties of natural and bamboo viscose fibres is provided. Studies conducted by various researchers on tensile properties of bamboo fibres are presented in detail. In addition, thermal behaviour using thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) studies is also described. The last section of the chapters highlights the low-stress mechanical properties of various bamboo fibres.
