Abstract

Tight oil and gas, short for tight reservoir oil and gas, refers to the oil and gas located in tight reservoirs, such as tight sandstone and tight carbonate rock. Tight oil and gas have to be stimulated to achieve industrial production. Tight gas is presently a focal point of global unconventional petroleum development, and tight oil is becoming more important. This section describes the research progress related to tight oil and gas exploration along with the geologic features, formation, and distribution of tight oil and gas.
