Abstract
The Shexiang Baoxin Pill (SBP) comprises seven medicinal materials or extracts thereof, including Moschus, Radix Ginseng, Calculus Bovis, Cortex Cinnamomi, Styrax, Venenum Bufonis, and Borneolum Syntheticum. These medicinal materials are often from different origins, sources, cultural manner, harvest times, and pretreatment processes. Quality control of SBP products is very critical to ensure their efficacy and safety. In this study, chemical fingerprinting and multicomponent determinations were both used to control the quality of SBP and also used in medicinal materials such as Calculus Bovis.
