Chapter 9 - Surface Modification of Carbon Anodes for Lithium Ion Batteries by Fluorine and Chlorine

Abstract

Surface modification by fluorine and chlorine improves anode characteristics of carbon materials. The effect of surface modification is different depending on the surface structures of carbon materials and fluorinating agents. Main improvement is increase in capacities or first coulombic efficiencies of carbon anodes.
