Abstract
Mineral Resources Authority of Mongolia recognizes BHP as best mining investor of 1998/1999. However, Oyu Tolgoi exploration went on hold allowing BHP to find potential external investors to join their exploration efforts. Major copper producers are invited to review the data package prepared by the Oyu Tolgoi team. Western Mining expressed genuine interest but could not obtain corporate approval for the investment proposal.
