Abstract
The numerous and pervasive advances in technology create opportunities and challenges for law enforcement. Statutory law fails to answer many questions about searching electronic data. Case law addressing electronic search and seizure is spotty and sometimes inconsistent. This chapter describes basic information about search and seizure, and then examines the application of these basic principles to electronic data and specific applications to various forms of technology.
