Abstract

Food processing and packaging in line with sustainable attitude should ensure that the resources required for foodstuff production and supply are used most efficiently. Although the food product sustainability is widely described logically, food manufacturers and distributors require clear solutions and practical examples of implementing this philosophy in the area of their business operations. Intelligent packaging (IP) provides many different opportunities for the implementation of the principles of sustainable development into food processing, but often their application also involves additional resources and engineering challenges.
