Abstract

Volcanic reservoirs contain abundant natural gas resources, which are widely distributed in many petroliferous basins in the world. However, few volcanic gas reservoirs are put into development, failing to provide practical experience in development. This chapter starts with the classification of volcanic gas reservoirs, explores the development process of volcanic gas reservoirs in China and analyzes the practical experiences of volcanic gas fields in China and Japan. The geological characteristics, the development mode, and technology policies as well as the dynamic development characteristics of gas reservoirs in different volcanic gas fields are analyzed and compared, which are of reference for effective development of similar concealed gas reservoirs and gas reservoirs with complex lithology.
