Abstract
This chapter provides an overview of visualization. The methods of generating a representation of a building by computer, techniques known as visualization, can be used to produce views from any point and from any angle very quickly. These views can help the architect in generating a pleasing design; they can also be used in presenting the building to the client and to the other members of the design team, thus increasing involvement from an early stage. Computer visualization can sometimes offer results otherwise unobtainable without a great deal of effort. There are several different basic forms of computer visualization that may be produced. The simplest is known as a wire-line perspective. The most popular method of data collection used by modern visualization programs is to make available a range of elementary solids such as boxes, cylinders, and pyramids.
