Abstract

Trichoderma spp. has been widely used for sustainable agriculture due to its well-known biological control mechanism as well as acclimation capability to adverse environments. The present chapter is an effort to elucidate the advanced molecular knowledge as well as plant growth promotion, biocontrol, and defense activation by Trichoderma spp. to broaden their perspectives for climate resilient agriculture. Global climate change is the biggest challenge of the 21st century for sustainable agricultural production and large-scale production and ecological balance, we need eco-friendly agriculture. In this context, Trichoderma species evolved as a toolbox for biocontrol, biofertilization, and phytostimulation as well as an important microbial community influencing climate resilient agriculture.
