Abstract

In this chapter, analysis of progressively hybrid censored data is discussed in detail. First, hybrid censoring based on progressively Type-II censored data is discussed. Next, for the case of exponential distribution, the maximum likelihood estimates and their exact distributions and related properties are presented based on Type-II and Type-I right censoring of progressively Type-II censored data, Type-I and Type-II progressively hybrid censored data and their generalized forms, unified progressively hybrid censored data, Type-I censored data from sequential order statistics and progressively hybrid censored multi-sample data. Extensions of some of these results for the case of Weibull and some other lifetime distributions are described. As for hybrid censoring, the modularization approach is shown to be a very efficient method to analyze progressive hybrid censoring schemes. In particular, B-spline functions can also be used to express the density functions of the maximum likelihood estimators under progressive hybrid censoring when the lifetimes are supposed exponentially distributed.
