Abstract

In this chapter, some known estimation methods, such as best linear unbiased estimation, best linear invariant estimation, maximum likelihood estimation, approximate maximum likelihood estimation and Bayesian estimation, for Type-II censored data are described first. Then, exact conditional maximum likelihood estimation method for Type-I censored data is detailed. Extensions of these methods and results to the cases of progressively Type-II censored and progressively Type-I censored samples are then described. The exponential, Weibull, half logistic, extreme value and Laplace distributions are all used, in the analysis of some known life-test data, to illustrate the theoretical results presented here.
