Abstract

Urban overheating can be counteracted and mitigation technologies are available. In this chapter, the impact of heat mitigation technologies on several dimensions of human life is presented: the outdoor conditions and thermal comfort, the energy consumption in buildings, and heat-related mortality and morbidity. The evidence available in the literature is analyzed offering a holistic picture of the positive contributions as well as limitations of the main mitigation technologies.
