Abstract
The basics of onshore pipeline mechanical design under operation loading conditions are presented (“pressure design”). First, the relevant provisions of ASME B978-0-323-88663-5.8 and B978-0-323-88663-5.4 standards are presented and discussed. These are the most popular design standards for onshore hydrocarbon pipelines, and are used not only in the US, but also in numerous onshore pipeline projects around the world. The relevant provisions of European standard EN 1594 for high-pressure gas pipelines are also presented.
