Abstract
Trauma affects 5% to 7% of pregnancies and is a leading cause of nonobstetric maternal mortality. Physiologic changes of pregnancy, specifically blood volume expansion and increased pelvic blood flow, predispose pregnant patients to different presentations and unique patterns of injury, necessitating more complex management algorithms, including approach to imaging choice and interpretation. In this chapter, we provide an overview of imaging of trauma in the pregnant patients, covering obstetric and nonobstetric injuries.
