Abstract

Artificial intelligence (AI) is an umbrella term pertaining to the ability of a machine to imitate intelligent human behaviour. AI is set to benefit clinical practice in IR but current research is on its practical application is lacking. This chapter seeks to highlight several practical examples of the use of AI methodology in clinical research and how that may be applicable to IR in particular in providing advanced procedural support, improved clinical decision tools and enhancing the trainee experience. We also discuss potential pitfalls and challenges when undertaking AI research and identify further resources the reader may wish to access when conducting their own research.
