Abstract

This chapter focuses on the guides for the historian both of the Victorian church in general and of specific denominations. J. G. Barrow, A Bibliography of Bibliographies in Religion (Ann Arbor, Edwards, 1955), is a general list that attempts to provide a comprehensive annotated guide to all separately published bibliographies in the field of religion from the 15th century to the present. The main emphasis is on Christianity. Dr. Williams's Library in London, which specializes in theological works, has published various author catalogues of its collections. The annual Bulletin lists new accessions to the library. A Bibliographical Guide to the History of Christianity provides an extensive listing for scholars. A more selective modern guide to books is R.P. Morris, A Theological Book List. A supplement to this was published in 1963. There is a good bibliography of Christian history in the American Historical Association's Guide to Historical Literature.
