Abstract

The obvious items of physical evidence are identified during the preliminary scene survey. This process does not identify any items of evidence that are not necessarily obvious and oftentimes will require a more intensive search process that is theoretically based and geometrically based. The “theory of the scene,” sites of high probability for finding evidence, and the use of visualization or enhancement techniques will assist the crime scene investigator in the search for the less obvious items of evidence.
