Abstract
Rhinoplasty is one of the most intricate and challenging cosmetic procedures that exists in the world of aesthetic surgery. Yet, it remains very popular and continues to be in the top 5 cosmetic surgical procedures performed for both men and women in the United States. A single book chapter on aesthetic rhinoplasty is difficult because of the complex nature of the procedure and diversity of techniques. However, a great deal of effort went into this general rhinoplasty chapter to cover as many basic as well as advanced rhinoplasty surgical techniques as possible. Each major technical point is accompanied by both clinical pictures as well as diagrams to help the reader clearly understand the details of each maneuver. Also, an effort was made to demonstrate a very large variety of clinical nasal diagnosis and appropriate treatments for each. Basic hump removal, revision rhinoplasty as well as advanced cases of rhinoplasty for the cleft lip and palate patient are discussed. The chapter includes details of the most common grafts used in the nose and the harvesting options. Lastly, there is a review of methods to avoid common complications along with treatment recommendations should problems occur.
