Abstract

Pyrolysis is thermochemical decomposition of a feed into several gaseous, liquid, and solid products that are produced in absence of an oxidizing environment. In this process, large complex molecules of biomass are broken down into smaller and simpler molecules. Different types of pyrolyzers and effect of process parameters on product yield are discussed in this chapter.
