Abstract

Nowadays, nanofibers have been widely developed in various applications which demand the production of fibers on a large scale. The production of solvent-free poly-L-(lactic acid) (PLLA) nanofibers by a self-designed centrifugal melt electrospinning device and their operating conditions are discussed in this chapter. We prepared orderly PLLA nanofiber membrane and studied the degree of orderly fiber membrane and the effects of regular voltage, rotational speed, and temperature on the crystallinity, diameter, and morphology of the PLLA fiber. Solvent-free PLLA nanofiber membrane prepared by centrifugal melt electrospinning exhibited a finest average diameter of 1.85μm and higher crystallinity compared with pure PLLA fiber membrane.
