Abstract

This chapter introduces the vortex-sound theory and its application. In the first section of this chapter, the derivation of basic equations of vortex sound theory is shown in detail. Also, several applications of vortex sound theory are illustrated in the succeeding sections, including vortex sound model of trailing edge noise of a flat plate, vortex model of acoustic liner impedance, effect of grazing flow on the vortex sound interaction of perforated plates, and nonlinear models of vortex sound interaction of a slit or a resonator.
