Abstract

The mining, textile, food, and petrochemical industries generate huge amounts of oil-water waste, which is a major pollutant and a major environmental problem around the world. The separation of oil and water is a subject of great importance since it has a real-world application in providing the solutions to treatment of industrialized oil wastewater and other types of pollution. A number of oil and water separation methodologies and new resources are available till now to overcome such concerns. This chapter discusses the recent advancement in the new filtration and oil absorption materials for oil and water separation and impact of oil spill over water.
