Abstract

This chapter introduces some of the common discrete and continuous random variables. Among these are the binomial and Poisson, which are discrete random variables; and the normal, which is continuous. Random variables related to the normal are discussed. It is shown how to use R to compute the probabilities and percentiles of all these random variables.
