Abstract
The application of exergy concepts and methods to industrial operations and problems is described. Exergy methods are used in many industries because they provide powerful tools for analyzing, assessing, designing, improving, and optimizing systems and processes. For example, some electrical generation companies utilize exergy methods to design better stations, to improve efficiency, and to avoid performance deterioration, while some cogeneration (or combined heat and power) facilities use exergy methods both to improve efficiency and to resolve economic costing and pricing issues. Several initiatives are launched to make exergy methods more generally and widely accepted by industry.
