Abstract

This chapter presents the fundamentals, preparation, and unique properties of polymer nanocomposites by dispersing various nanofillers in commercial unsaturated polyester (UPE) matrices. Also, particular focus has been given to the basis of their nanoscale dimensions, namely zero dimensional, one dimensional, two dimensional, and three dimensional. These nanocomposites showed remarkable enhancements in mechanical, viscoelastic, thermogravimetric, and transport properties. The introduction of a small quantity of nanofiller endowed a new class of multiphase nanocomposites with inimitable structure and tremendous application. So, keeping in mind modern trends and advances in polymer technology these UPE-based nanomaterials have successfully proven their candidature for high performance nanocomposites with a variety of applicability in the realm of nanomaterials.
