Abstract

Interpenetrating polymer networks (IPNs) are a special type of polymeric blend with special features and potential applications. The interpenetration and intercalation of components play major roles in final outcomes. Their characterization protocols and their differentiation from ordinary blends are “evergreen” research areas in the polymeric multicomponent scenario. Spectroscopy is the most vibrant characterization tool with a wide range of protocols and scope. This chapter summarizes important spectroscopic methods involved in the characterization of IPNs. It is a brief history and summary of spectroscopic parameters employed in the description of IPNs with reference to the latest and most notable works in this field.
