Abstract
This chapter is dedicated to through conduit gate valves as a very robust valve choice for stopping and starting the flow in particle containing (dirty services). Two types of through conduit gate valves which are slab and double expanding are reviewed. This chapter provides a relatively deep and detailed review of different critical metallic and soft components in this type of valve. This chapter includes different aspects of ball valve design such as bore, flow capacity, seat skirt design, double isolation, and bleed (DIB). A separate section is dedicated to material selection for different components of the ball valves such as body, bonnet, seat, stem, etc. This chapter is very well illustrated with pictures of through conduit gate valves during assembly, test, packing, and preservation.
