Abstract
This chapter is dedicated to plug valves as a very robust valve choice in particle-containing (dirty) process fluids used for stopping and starting the flow as an alternative to ball valves. This chapter provides a relatively deep and detailed review of different critical metallic and soft components in this type of valve. An example of plug valves application in the offshore industry has been explained in this chapter. Different aspects of plug valve design such as bore, end-to-end standard dimensions, antistatic are included. A separate section is dedicated to material selection for different components of the plug valves such as body, bonnet, seat, stem, etc.
