Abstract

This chapter provides an extensive discussion on the wide variety of pipe flanges used in petro-industrial applications. The seven different forged steel ANSI pound ratings and four different cast iron flange ratings are provided. Flat face, raised face, and ring-type joint flange faces are discussed. The following flange types are presented and compared; welding neck, threaded, slip-on, lap-joint, reducing, blind, and orifice. Step-by-step drawing procedures are presented for industry recognized single-line and double-line drawing symbols. Bolts types, numbering, and orientation spacing patterns are detailed. Gaskets types are included. Dimensioning charts provided specific dimensional sizes for the seven different forged steel pound ratings.
