Abstract
Nanocellulose and cellulose derivatives have been increasingly attractive to be explored as “green” matrix and additives in dielectric composites. Their outstanding dielectric properties, mechanical properties, thermal properties, transparency, and the rich hydroxy bonds endow them with great potential to be used as the matrix of high dielectric materials. Besides, their inherent compatibility with organic polymer and easily processed modification also makes them excellent additives for dielectric substrates. This chapter makes a brief introduction of the basic dielectric concepts and their respective influence factors. The state-of-the-art researches on the improvement of cellulose- and nanocellulose-based dielectric material are summarized and compared. The trend of studies is to improve their thermal stability, water resistance and interfacial interactions between the filler and the matrix. The future researches of cellulose-based dielectrics may focus on conductor/cellulose, all-organic systems and three-phase systems.
